Harris joins Public Works

Sherry Harris has joined the City of Harrison staff as the Purchasing Agent for Public Works. When asked if she could write the big checks, she laughed and answered, “No way. But I help push through payments so everything gets to the right person.”

She has 15 years of administrative assistant experience. She was the Searcy County Deputy Assessor for almost seven years and worked at North Arkansas College for almost five years. “I loved working at the college. There were a lot of good people to work with.”

She’s enjoying working at Public Works and is getting settled in well. She began on March 22.

She and her husband, Chris, have three children. Their oldest daughter, Amber Harness, was an English teacher at Green Forest and was recently hired as an art teacher for the Omaha School District. Amber is married to Tyler, who is an AP science teacher and assistant football coach for Green Forest.

Their son, Garrett, works for WinElectric in Bentonville. The Harris family also has a nine-year-old who attends Forest Heights.

Wade Phillips, Public Works COO/Engineer, said, “We are very happy to have Sherry join our team. She’s doing a great job for us and learning fast.”
