Officer Lauren Stroud has been with the Harrison Police Department for nine years. She serves the District at the Harrison Preschool, which provides a developmental program for children ages three to five. Students attend full-time.

“I love getting to interact and have fun with the kids. I hear their stories all day … and you never know what will come from their mouths!” Stroud laughed. Stroud initially feared working with kids because she does not have children. “But I got over that quickly and can’t imagine doing anything else.”

She feels that the Harrison School District students are working with some of the best SROs in the state. “We will do anything to keep them safe.”

When Officer Stroud has time off, she enjoys cycling and has a road bicycle.

Preschool Coordinator Jenny Cowling said, “We love having Officer Stroud at Harrison Preschool. Having an officer on campus helps the parents feel better about leaving their young students each day. The preschoolers enjoy it when Officer Stroud talks about being a police officer and shows them her police car during community helper week. They also really enjoy it when she brings her turtle Speedy during pet week. All of the staff, students, and parents appreciate all she does at preschool!”
