Officer Grisham offers advice for parents of teens

Officer Roger Grisham has been with the Harrison Police Department for ten years. He has been working at Harrison High School for nine.

“I love working with teenagers. My favorite part is having a kid return to school years later and thanking me for making a difference in their life.”

Grisham said he wasn’t scared to work with teenagers because he has been a youth pastor for 15 years.

His advice to parents is: “Be involved with your kids. Be involved with their social media and their friends. Be a parent — not a friend.”

When he’s not at school, Officer Grisham loves to be outdoors, on the White River, doing some trout fishing. “I love to enjoy the peace and quiet,” he said.

High School Principal Jay Parker said, “Officer Grisham does a good job directing traffic during the drop-off and pick-up times. He helps keep our building safe and is visible throughout the halls at HHS.  He goes out of his way to visit and help build rapport with students. He delivers donuts to students, and they appreciate it. He's always checking doors and making sure students are safe. One of a kind!”
