Yard Waste Composting

The City of Harrison owns and operates a yard waste composting facitlity.  Yard waste received by the City is composted using a controlled aerobic decompostition to transform organic material into a biologically stable product that can be used as a soil amendment.  In addition to producing compost, the facility also produces wood chip mulch.

 

The facility is not open to the public; however, City of Harrison and Boone County residents may take yard waste, limbs, and brush to the Orion Waste Solutions Recycling Center located at 805 Cottonwood Road (M-F: 9AM to 6PM and Saturday: 9AM to Noon).  Compost and mulch is also available for pick up by Harrison and Boone County residents at the Recycling Center.  


The annual City-Wide Leaf Pickup will begin November 29th (Monday after Thanksgiving) and will be scheduled by City Ward.  Based on which Ward you live in, you’ll need to have your leaves to the curb before the following date to ensure that they will be collected:

Ward 2- December 2nd
Ward 3- December 9th
Ward 1- December 16th
Ward 4- December 60th

Leaves should be raked to the curb (not in the street) no later than the day before your Ward begins.  If you are unsure what ward you are in, you can call 870-741-3434 or check your voter registration at https://voterview.ar-nova/org/VoterView.

Call 870-741-3434 if you have bagged leaves for pickup (plastic bags are not accepted.  The Street Department will pick up bagged leaves on Fridays.  You can also drop off bagged leaves at the LRS Recycling & Drop-off Center (1313 Old Bellefonte Road).

Please do not rake or pile leaves in the street or gutter.  Leaves should be raked and piled to the edge of your yard but not in the street.  Also, please do not put limbs or brush in with the leaves.
