Mayor Jerry Jackson was invited to speak at the Boone County Master Gardeners meeting last week. President Cori Hopingardner said everyone enjoyed hearing the mayor's updates.

Jackson said, “I’m very excited about the new businesses in the downtown area, Creekside, and the progress of the new bridge. These projects, plus the work you do to make downtown beautiful, should attract a lot of new visitors this year. Thank you so much.”

“He told us he was thankful for all that we do around the square and gave an update on the Beautification Project on the two blocks on Main Street north of the square,” she said.

The Master Gardeners meet the first Thursday of each month in the Boone County Farm Bureau meeting room.

“Of course, our hanging baskets will be a large project for the spring, but right now, we are hosting classes at the library to help people with their spring planting projects,” Hopingardner said.

An Extension Agent was also present for the meeting and told the group they had logged 2,000 volunteer hours, which, if those hours were paid, would total $62,000. “We were very excited and proud to hear that.”
