The City of Harrison has recently released a new website. Several years ago, they began using harrisonar.gov for the domain name, which will remain the same.
The new site is live, and easier for citizens to find the information they are searching for.
Public Relations Director Donna Braymer shared with the City Council on Thursday, Feb. 13, the highlights and advantages of the new website.
The former host company was sold, and the new owners were focusing more on school districts. This began to affect the support we were receiving from the company. Under the direction of IT Director David Wilson, a team was formed to interview several companies and find one that fit the city's needs.
The Arkansas company, Apptegy of Little Rock, was chosen. Braymer told the council they have been wonderful to work with. “I get assistance almost immediately in a chat format and training through live Zoom classes. Our former company might reply by email in a couple of days. By then, I had forgotten what the issue was. They made the transition for the team much easier than anyone expected.”
The original launch date was scheduled for Feb. 28. However, as things progressed and the former site had more problems, the team felt confident, and it went live on Feb. 21 at 3 p.m.
An older domain name, cityofharrison.com, was still in use by some citizens, and they have had a few issues with forwarding to the new site. Those issues have since been resolved. Wilson said citizens need to go ahead and set harrisonar.gov as their default site for the city of Harrison.
