Creekside Volleyball

On Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 8-9, Creekside hosted the Be Elite Heartbreaker Classic Volleyball Tournament for girls ages 10-16.

Parks Director Chuck Eddington said, “This was our first volleyball tournament for Creekside, and it was a huge success. We hosted 40 teams from three states for the two-day event. Pool play (a volleyball term) was held on Saturday, with bracket play on Sunday.”

“It was standing room only around the Boone County Farm Bureau and First Community Bank Courts at Creekside. The parking lot was full, and we received some great feedback from the guests,” he said.

“This success will help us continue growing volleyball. We appreciate the good partnership with Be Elite,” Eddington said.

The Parks staff kept the Signature Bank Court open for members to use during the tournament.

Sometime during the games, a guest watching the action suffered a heart attack. Someone called 911, and Parks staff members obtained the AED equipment nearby.

Eddington said, “Before our staff could start CPR, the first responders were there from the downtown station. The guest was taken by ambulance to NARMC and was reported to be doing well.”

“We are sad this happened to one of our guests, but so proud of our community and guests for getting her the help she needed immediately and possibly saving her life,” Eddington said.
